high school

Football was my life for an entire 2 years of highschool and it was good, but drained me of all my energy. From all the training and lifting to all the running i did. It shaped my body and mind to what it is now and how I make decisions about how I work out and what I eat. I spent 2 summers getting up early everyday and spending my entire day working out with the team and doing everything at the school with the other football players.

i believe essay

I believe in basketball.
It’s a great sport to play and get your energy out. There are so many aspect of the game that take, so much time to learn and understand.  Basketball keeps you in great shape and you have to use many muscles, if you want to play it well.
From shooting and dribbling, to having the timing and athleticism to leap into the air and grab a rebound. Another thing that is a huge part of basketball and where they will place you because of this, it’s your size and how you are able to move with your size.  Most think that if you are bigger then you should play what they call the “post” position, but a lot of guys today are proving that just because you’re big, doesn’t mean you’re a down low player and can’t do all the things a guard can do.
This newer style for today is called “European styled basketball.” European basketball and American basketball are so different in some many ways, but all the ways still work and can be used to play and beat your opponent.
To me European styled basketball, is way more technical and the moves a smoother and look a lot cooler than some other styles. European styled also has a lot of foot work involved to play the game and is hard and takes time to learn. To me, European styled basketball also involves less dribbling then most other types, in that you may on take a couple dribbles from the top of the key to get to the cup and lay a bucket in; also you may come around a screen and get the ball and not dribble at all and just spot- up shoot. In my eyes, the European, style of basketball doesn’t really have a center, or down low player. All the players on the team are able to make difficult shots, whether they are extremely tall or normal sized and can all dribble fairly well.
American styled basketball is more athletic and raw and untrained. It’s the type of basketball that is your own style and you play what fits you and what makes you comfort and able to get wins, but putting the ball in the basket. No two styles are the same, because the different players all use different ones in different situations and to get out of them.

I believe in

I believe that basketball is the best sport, because it is fun to play and keeps you in good shape.

I believe in eating a lot of chicken fettuccini Alfredo, because not only does it taste amazing, but it's good for you.

I believe that the gun laws should stay the way they are and maybe become a little less strict, because this is America!

The game of ping- pong is made up of extreme skill and a tiny bit of luck. Like tennis there are more any a few ways to return or serve the ball. The most common returns and serves are front hand, back hand, side hand and right to left serve. Ping- pong is not hard to learn, but takes some time to get used to and get the "touch". There are many factors that play into how well you are able to return and serve the ball on servers you can hit it your way starting out which gives you more control on how my how spin there is on the ball and which direction it is heading in. Another factor that is a huge part of the game is whether or not you have a heavy paddle or a light one and how the paddle is cushioned. Also how you hold your paddle and how far away from the tank you stand. You can put many different types of spin on the ball and can make the ball go the ways you want it too, if you know how to use your paddle. There are so many factors that can change the game and the style that you have to play so you have to know counter and know a few different ways to play. To start the game there's a few ways to get the ball from the paddle game to just rallying until you win the rally, that's just to get the ball. Once you get the ball you change the ball every five serves and you, you can serve and score on all you services, but so can you opponent if your not smart and careful. You play the game to twenty-one. One thing that happens a lot is called a net ball, it's usually on services and the serve is redone if that happens. If a net ball happens during the rally in the game and it goes of the net and the other person can't return it it's counted as a score.

vocab #4

Police are usually affiliated with the law, whether the are on or off or even under-cover.
They are usually trying to do something or ascertain something.
When they finally achieve attainment, there job is to just write a report about it.
Some police are more cogent than others and some times get into trouble, because of it.
Many police are regarded as very esteem and they make good decisions.
If you get arrested, by the police and you are the one they arrest your later going to attempt to get your record expunged
Even the police are finite and have bounds, they aren't supermen as much as they would like to be and act like they are.
Although many people that the police deal with think that they are invulnerable.
Police are usually very malevolent and determined to get the suspect.
Some police though, are very nonchalant and laid back.

book/movie #3

Its 11: 30 P.M, I am very tired and feel extremely sick and weak. I haven't eaten in three days and only have had a pint of water. It is very cold, but I can't light a fire, for the Gestapo will see it and check it out. Even as I complain about all these things that I need to just barely survive, the one true thing that I'm missing and that my heart yearns for is my beloved piano  or any piano for that matter, just so I can pretend to play the sweet, soft, ivory keys. As I sit in this room on the fifth floor in this building freezing, I finally crack and get out of bed to look for food, even though I know there is nothing there. I first look in all the cabinets and then I look in the the shelf above the sink and as i open it a hinge breaks, all the plates and bowls filled with absolutely nothing come crashing out and break into a million pieces on the cold, dank wood floors. At that moment I hear a loud scream and start to panic. Not knowing what to do or who's out in front of my door I answer it because i hear a loud knock. i walk out to a heavy set blonde that is pro Nazi yelling and demanding questions from me. When she finally asks for my I.D i stale until the last second then dash off into the cold snowy night.

book/movie #2

A lot of bad things go on in the film, from the time that the movie starts til it has ended there is a complete 180 degree change. Every character in the movie is a human and some of the ways these other humans were treated by humans is terrible, from being sent to work/ death camps to being killed on spot in the street out in front of there home, to having to hide and run and be treated how the slaves were just to barely survive and evade hunger. Yes, this film attempts to break away from the theme through the interactions of the main character getting helped a lot from others that were/ weren't his kind and him coping with the terrible situation by using music ( the piano) and having a discipline and reserved attitude. Yes, the film does show that there were good non-Jewish Germans that did want to help and did help. In the book, the Jews seemed alone but in the movie it was like around every bad corner there always seemed to be a little light of help.

Book/movie #1

There families are very similar, because they are very close to each other and are very into their religions, which is Judaism. Each character knows what they want to do in life and what they like and they are determined and set on what they want. One likes pianos and the other likes learning all parts of Judaism. Even when times get rough and there's no hope they hang in there and some how get through it. They both experience bad times and hardship but in different ways and at different times and being different ages. The pianist for instants doesn't go to a camp right away, he travels and without his family or anyone and he lives from what others trying to help him provide for him and in night he is taken to a camp and that's a lot of the book but he does have his father there.

reflect 3/18

I think that this book was very well written and interesting, because it showed an inside look in what happened at a real, well-known death camp through the eyes of a prisoner. Even though it was a ruff story in the camps, I personally think the worst part of all of it would have been travelling in the cattle boxcars to get to what ever camp was your final destination. Some other the little things to live weren't given to them over only a couple days and it shows how much those little things really mean and matter and that we need, just tot live our daily lives.

Part II

Auschwitz
1.3 million worked there
(2.5 million gassed, and 500,000 from disease and starvation) died there
Poland
Sent there to work and to get killed
one of the worst
unbearable, not livable conditions

Part I

I think that Elie's relationship with his father is still pretty strong, I just think he was always upset with his father, because his father only wanted him to study a certain part of his religion when, Elie always wanted to study everything there was to know about it. "Don't talk like that, father." (75) He cares for his father very much, but doesn't want his father to give him his last belongs, becuase Elie still has hope and his father has lost it and is ready to give up.

part I

She warned people of the fires and violence to come on the train and they beat her so, she would shut up. They ignore her and don't believe the fate that's to come. "She is mad, poor woman..."(25)

part II

the "golden Crown" was Elie's golden tooth and when it wasn't taken from him it gave him hope for the time being. It made Elie feel a tiny bit safer and that maybe he would make it through this terrible time. later on in the book it is taken from him, its taken out by another person with a rusty old spoon.

Reflection

I prolly need to improve on everything, that were in those parenthesis... Unfortunately I'm just trying to coast and get through til I finish up. Specifically, I think my attendance has been okay, my effort has been minimal, my attitude has being not very positive to say the least, my completing assignments has been decent besides missing one, my direction following is terrible and last but not least I don't study..I think I did decent on the narratives and not so good on the scholarships. I honestly don't think I've looked at it or even know about it ( that goes along with me not following the directions and not listening and sometimes zoning.) yes, I follow miss spriggs as of 3/4/2013 at 8:17 a.m.

10 vocab words

Ninja are very adroit, not only were they Japanese, but they were Buddhist which is a religion that requires much self-control.
They are also amicable and the first ninjas were farmers, by day and "ninjas" my night.
During the day these " ninjas" were hard working rice patty farmers, but by night they were belligerent ninjas.
Ninjas were like the benevolent robin hoods of there time and protected there people from unfair governments.
The farmers worked very hard during the long days, which made them build up certain muscles and when the farmers started becoming ninjas they were very cursory and quick moving.
Duplicity was a common trait among the "ninjas," but only because they were formed into this by the unfair and hard ways of their own government.
The common people extolled the ninjas, because they would help to change things for them.
The ninjas wanted to make it feasible for the common person to live a more comfortable life style.
The reason ninjas worn masks was to hide there grimace looking faces.
When the ninjas government wasn't satisfied with the work they were doing, by day they would send soldiers to create holocausts and torturer the people.

A long way gone: memoirs if a boy soldier." blog # 2

After a long struggle of being with the RUF, Ishmael's lieutenant releases the boys to UNICEF, but it's almost at a point where it's too late because all the boys are brainwashed and addicted to different drugs, but then Ishmael meets a woman that later becomes his foster mother and she helps to bring him back to reality. He ends up getting an opportunity to go to New York City to tell his stories to the United Nations. Later returning too Sierra Leone, after his uncle has passed, but with the war still going on it caught up with him and he is put into a position, where he has to flee to Guinea where he makes his way back to the United States. Yes, even though my prediction was very broad it was right on. I think that the over all tone of the story was triumph, and even overcoming some of thee toughest situations. He views it as a learning experience and is grateful that he got helped and out of that terrible situation. This book had some extremely rough subjects, but that way that he presented these terrible events always made it seem like he has hope and wasn't going to give up until he took his last breathe.

"A long way gone: memoirs of a boy soldier." Blog #1

I think that this does hold true, even though its sad, because if a terrible event happens to you, you have a story to tell and mostly others are willing to listen and want to here your story. In Ishmael Beahs' case it does and it better him for his future life, even though it was something that I can't even imagine going through. To me this book was hard at first to get started on and through, I don't know why, but once I got through the first few chapters it started to become an easier more interesting read. It's a good book, and I am almost through it. I think that the book will take a turn for the best and everything will come together for him. He wrote this book, so some type of good has to come out of this extremely rough story.
