3/14

part I

She warned people of the fires and violence to come on the train and they beat her so, she would shut up. They ignore her and don't believe the fate that's to come. "She is mad, poor woman..."(25)

part II

the "golden Crown" was Elie's golden tooth and when it wasn't taken from him it gave him hope for the time being. It made Elie feel a tiny bit safer and that maybe he would make it through this terrible time. later on in the book it is taken from him, its taken out by another person with a rusty old spoon.

  1. Does Mrs. Schacter represent something bigger? Perhaps the Jewish people's disbelief or unwillingness to accept their own fate, like you said.
